Thanks to all of you who entered our orchid quiz at the Big Bang event at Malvern. We can now announce that no-one got 100% but a large number of you got 90% or more. The top scoring sheets were put in a flower pot and the winner drawn out was Izzy Clatworthy (I hope I spelt your name correctly). Well done Izzy. Please claim a free plant next time you see us. We will be at the RHS show London this Friday and Saturday and nearer to you at the Three Counties Show on 14th-16th June.
After an amazing trip we are now back in the UK. When looking back over the last trip we all agreed on one thing that really stood out. This was the two days at taktse school. It is what our project is all about and the enthusiasm of the students was incredible. This is a picture of us and the students by our wall of memories. I will remember this forever and I am sure the other students will as well.
Just a warning for taktse school, I will be back.
Today is the final day of the Sikkim 2013 expedition. It has been an wonderful trip and I would like to thank my team for making it such a success. Special thanks go to Ganden for the smooth management of a hectic schedule, the important new links made and for ensuring that we were so well looked after through out the trip. Thanks also to our partner schools, Taktse and Hemlata’s College for the fantastic welcome we received and the enthusiasm of staff and pupils. My adult team, Sophie and Lauren, have been terrific and have been key to making this an outstanding expedition both for our Writhlington students and our partners.
Most of all I would like to thank our student team, Ike, Heather, Georgia, Zoe, Matt, Zoe and Devin for their commitment, adaptability, endurance and sense of fun. This has allowed them to achieve amazing things, earn admiration from our partners and it has been a pleasure to share the experience with each of you.
We are all in Dehli about to go out for a meal nearing the end of the trip. While we were in Sikkim we all bought nice clothes and decided to dress up. We are going out with a bang!
It has come to the part of the trip where we have to pack for home. Some students can’t grasp the concept of packing and some can’t do it without a mess.
