Phalaenopsis speciosa ‘green’ – 365 days of orchids – day 1940
We are delighted to be enjoying several seedling Phalaenopsis flowering this week (all new to 365 days of orchids). The first is Phalaenopsis speciosa ‘green’ . It is a small growing species will large waxy flowers that are also very fragrant. The scent reminds me of a sweet spicy soap – lovely.
Phalaenopsis speciosa is found on the Andaman and Nicobar Islands in the Indian Ocean where it grows in hot lowland forest in shade. Those are the conditions we provide, warm and shaded, and we look forward to seeing it develop into a specimen.
