Learning about orchid seed at Mendip R &D
The Mendip Studio School R&D Orchid group are quickly becoming experts in orchid science and practice. Over the next few weeks we are working on seed that has just matured on Coelogyne fragrans. The seed pods have been on the plant since early spring and are now starting to burst. Students have checked the seed under microscopes and can confirm that the seed has embryos present (see Microscope photo below)
Over the next few weeks, months and years we will keep you up to date with the progress of the seed from this wonderful species native to the cool forests of Papua New Guinea.
