WSBEorchids

Busy in the greenhouse and lab

It is all action this week in the Mendip Studio School propagation lab. Year 11s (above) are hard at work re-plating seedlings during their lunchtime and Year 13s are in the midst of their orchid seed germination experiments (below)

Each student studies their own species and after TZ testing the viability of their seed sample, identifies the optimum conditions for germination and growth.

All this lab activity generates lots of seedlings to de-flask in the greenhouse and Year 10s  have been working through plants including April here (Below) showing Cymbidium tracyanum seedlings to its parent plant (which was also grown from seed in the school lab from seed sown in 2020.)
