We have another intriguing bublophyllum species today. Bulbbophyllum nitidum is a small growing species with large dramatic flowers and is new to 365 days of orchids.
The red and white striped flowers are 7cm across with the sepals held out straight. The lip is a sharp point 3cm long. The small plants produce several flowers from each bulb over a long period.
Bulbophyllum nitidum is native to Papua New Guinea and found in warm, mossy forest at around 1200m and so we grow the species in our Warm Asia section (min 17C)
