Phalaenopsis manii (dark form) – 365 days of orchids – day 882

One of the lovely things about orchids is the variation that can be found in any species. This seedling of Phalaenopsis manii is much darker that the more usual from we grow (below)

And different again from this plant growing in the forests of Assam

A journalist recently asked me which my favourite orchid was and I had to point out that this was a silly question – it is the diversity of orchid species that makes them beautiful.
